Stellar reviews - The Lost Boys of Ladywell

Hey, I wanted to share with you some of the brilliant reviews from our readers and also say thank you to everyone who took the time to write these! We're thrilled and so happy you've enjoyed The Lost Boys of Ladywell.

If you haven't yet read the book, it's a Scottish crime thriller based on the trance culture of the early 2000s and the lives of four lads from the scheme. The reviews give you a clear sense of the tone and pace of the book (fast!).

The author is Aidan Martin whose first book, Euphoric Recall, is about growing up in Livingston, Scotland, and his recovery from addiction and trauma. Although The Lost Boys of Ladywell is crime fiction, it's based on his life experiences and has a similar vibe.

Also, the book is gorgeously illustrated by Scottish artist Mark Deans.

Enjoy the reviews!

xx Julianne

"The Lost Boys of Ladywell" is a captivating exploration of youth and the rave scene in Scotland, narrated through the eyes of its main character. Aidan Martin brilliantly captures the essence of growing up in a vibrant yet tumultuous environment, where the pulsating energy of music and camaraderie intertwines with the challenges of adolescence.

The story resonates deeply, taking readers back to their own youthful days, filled with the thrill of new experiences and the search for identity. Martin’s writing evokes a sense of nostalgia, reminding us of the carefree moments that shape our lives. The characters are well-developed and relatable, each contributing to the rich tapestry of the narrative.

What I particularly enjoyed is how the story unfolds from the main character's perspective, allowing us to connect intimately with his thoughts and emotions. This personal touch enhances the reading experience, making it more immersive and engaging.

5.0 out of 5 stars Gripping, stunning and emotional

I was hooked on this book from the beginning. The story goes at 100mph and you will want to be there for the ride. It was gritty, fast paced, raw, emotional, I actually couldnt stop turning those pages. On the surface this story could seem like a drug fuelled adventure but at the core of it, its a tale of true brotherhood and just trying to get through life. I love the many references to West Lothian, its very rare to see my hometown in a book. Would definitely recommend that you give this book a go and if you like this one, go check out the authors memoir "Euphoric Recall".

Truely amazing, gripping and full of guts. The strength of friendship throughout shows a deep bond, the ups and downs they endure, the challenges facing them keeps you totally immersed and you wondering what happens next. The old tunes, Rezerection leads to many a memory of days gone by. Had me gripped and great read from start to finish. Highly recommend.
